Annual Exhibition

The delayed 40th Anniversary Annual Exhibition is going ahead THIS COMING SATURDAY 7th May at Queens School, Bushey.

We have confirmation of  twenty layouts in a variety of scales and a number of traders and society stands attending. There will also be an extensive club stand for members’ sales. New for this Exhibition: –

  • cashless payments
  • new catering arrangements.

We now  also confirm that PARKING CHARGES HAVE BEEN SUSPENDED for Friday evening and all day Saturday.

See the Exhibition page for full details.

Film night

In the light of the upsurge in COVID cases around Christmas time it was decided to postpone the film night until the Summer. Look out for a new date in June.

We have scheduled the annual barbeque for Thursday 7th July – more information to follow.

AGM and Committee Meeting

The AGM was held on Tuesday 15th March and minutes are posted on the clubroom notice board.

The subscription was agreed at £100 for full membership for the current year, the same as pre-COVID, and the outstanding subs are now due for payment by cheque, cash or bank transfer.

No new Committee members were nominated, but Martin Pinder has stepped down after many years of loyal service, so the Committee is as below: –

Chairman and Exhibition Manager: John Davy

Treasurer: Ron Drew

Secretary: Ken Halse

00 gauge rep: Rob Thomas

Committee member and Exhibition Trader Coordinator: Peter Hodge

We would welcome one or two additional members to the Committee as the Society gets back to a “normal”  level of activity. Please contact the Secretary if you are interested.

Minutes from the most recent Committee meeting are also posted on the clubroom notice board.

Clubhouse rules and COVID precautions

The Clubhouse is fully open for use by members.

Legalised COVID precautions having been removed, the Committee decided to retain the following measures on a voluntary basis: –

  • Hand sanitising (sanitiser provided)
  • Separation as far as practical
  • Ventilation (open doors) as outside temperatures permit.

The requirement to sign in has been removed.

Hand sanitiser and facilities for boiling water plus soap and towels for hand washing are provided. Also there are surface wipes.

Members’ Projects

We can still add to the web page showing what some of the members have been up to since the Covid restrictions were introduced during March 2020. Please contact the Secretary if you have news and / or pictures of your own own model-related project.

The page will be updated as new information arises.

Lincolnsfield Open Day

We had club layouts Dudley Frey and Tedburn St Mary operating on the Lincolnsfield Open Day on 31st October 2021. Quite a bit of interest was shown by the visiting public and some of the other volunteers. A repeated comment was that is was  pleasant surprise to have an added attraction , so we will hope to carry on the opening at future month-end Sundays when the Centre is open.

Clubhouse tidying

To continue the good work, please would all members remove or otherwise safeguard any of their own possessions that are at the club – and throw away any unusable or waste material – bins are provided. Thank you.

We continue to wish all our members and their families good health and happy modelling.
